2020 Global Citizen of the Year Application

2020 Global Citizen of the Year Application

The Global Citizen Award series will recognize one EO Member, whose innovative and effective approach transcends borders, changes lives, and sets an example for us all. EO is supporting the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the Global Citizen of the Year Award is a powerful example of this commitment. The goals are "a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity," and the EO Global Citizen of the Year shares this vision. The winner will be selected through a review process by members of the External Engagement Committee.

Prize:

The EO Global Citizen of the Year will be recognized for his or her contributions with a paid trip to visit the EO chapter of his or her choice.

The trip is to be used as a goodwill visit/tour only and may not be leveraged for paid speaking engagements or other business. The recipient may add additional travel at his or her own expense, but may not solicit EO chapters for paid engagements as the award recipient.

Flight, hotel and other transportation/meal costs may be submitted back to EO to cover up to $3,500 USD for the recipient only.

The recipient must use the trip for making contact with an EO chapter outside of his or her own country and preferably outside of his or her own geographic region. The External Engagement Committee Chair has final approval on the recipient's selected destination. The recipient will be asked to record their journey with photographs, notes, etc.

Travel must take place within nine months of winning the award. A planning call will be made available to the recipient with the Chair of the External Engagement Committee and staff. EO Global will assist with introductions to the chapter being visited.
